The other weekend my daughter, her boyfriend, and I went to a festival in Oklahoma City. It was small, it was hot, it was fun, and we are going again next year.
With a name like Vegfest you wouldn’t think there would be funnel cake and ice cream but guess what! There was funnel cake and ice cream! That’s what’s so great about being vegan/vegetarian, you don’t have to give up the good stuff.
I didn’t take as many pictures as I should have because I was carrying a drink with no lid and trying not to spill it even more. I was drinking ice tea but in the heat the ice didn’t last obviously, so I had to go to Kona Ice to get a cup of snow cone ice to pour the rest of the tea in. Here’s my snow cone tea.
The snow cone ice melted and then I had regular cold tea again. I was also carrying some things that I didn’t want to smash into my purse, like the free recipe booklet from this nice place called Action for Animals.
We got stickers from there. There were lots of other tents that had information but this place had the cool stickers so that’s where I stood the longest enough to get a picture. It was so hot I didn’t even care that I got people in my pictures.
Tents and people.
I do want to point out that I love festivals but I hate people and yes I know there can’t be a festival without people and blah blah but this was probably the first time in a very long time that I wasn’t annoyed by 99% of the people there. I would almost go so far to say they were ALL wonderful. Like seriously, everyone seemed so chill and happy despite the heat. Everyone that I did encounter was friendly and nice and just pleasant. I was the annoying person. I kept making jokes and terrorizing E&T. I kept staring at this guy’s shirt and he probably thought I was creepy but I wanted to take a picture of it to put on here but I didn’t want to scare him. I was so sweaty I looked like the Pokémon Grimer/Muk. Imagine that coming at you mumbling about your shirt and a picture. There were so many other cool vegan themed shirts and maybe next year I’ll be a shirt stalker and take pictures of all of them.
There was a line of food trucks with a line of people (haha one of my lame jokes) on the edge of the park. So thankful for the shaded sidewalk.
This is what we got for lunch.
This is the info booklet that I didn’t want to ruin with my tea.
What did I tell you about not having to give up the good stuff? Yummy!
